Oops! Forgot these pics!

Here are a few images from our last fashion event....albeit a tad on the late side! My sincere apologies, I've been so busy with all the extra things going on, I completely forgot to post them!

Kiea opened the show with this cute little cotton dress with red tulle peep at the hem, teamed with a cropped bolero and sweet little mini bag that doubles as a sunglass case.

Behind the scenes, pics of Hanny with the girls and the boys. Lisa Barrett (Tango & James) with her lovely outfits on our gorgeous models.

Re-Loved Pop-Up Shop a huge success

We had a fantastic weekend with a brand new venture for Re-Loved Creations, the 3 days only temporary shop at the Canberra Centre.

Ten designers and artisans came together to showcase their fabulous one-off creations and original artworks. Everything from handcrafted little gifts, baby booties and toys, original art, digital artwork to unbelievable head wear and designer clothing and accessories...it was all there.

When I first thought up the idea of Re-Loved Creations this is exactly what I wanted to achieve: showcasing local artists and designers...and didn't the public just lap it up!!

Kristi even had a little fun playing jokes on passers-by by posing as a shop mannequin in the shop window.

A huge thank you goes to my dedicated team: Lee Dewar, our hard working event manager and the other half of Re-Loved Creations; Kristi Dewar our house model extraordinaire and budding artist with her individual pop-art on the walls; Lisa Barrett (aka Tango & James label with her beautiful vintage inspired range) our interior designer for making our shop look absolutely fabulous and for being there for me when I needed extra help; Barb Mickelson (BM Designs) for her gorgeous head wear (I'm now converted..love the hats!) and for being so caring; and all the other designers and artists who made this event so special!

Re-Loved is catching on

Re-Loved Creations presented another fabulous fashion event, "Re-Loved: Re-Vamped" on 30 September at the gallery of Craft ACT: Craft and Design Centre to a full house. The evening was perfectly kicked off with pre-show drinks and nibbles.

Music was provided by DJ Shayne Cummins who mixed 30's, 40's and 50's swing/jazz with a re-vamped back beat putting together an awesome soundtrack for the evening.

Our designers presented some truly wonderful collections, many of their creations being snapped up by keen fashionistas after the parade. The models looked amazing as always with makeup provided by our (resident) freelance makeup artist Andrew Cannon with help from CMA artist (and model) Dejana.

We have had some great feedback from the show with plenty of interest in the marketplace for eco-fashion promotion and sales. It seems we're right on the money when it comes to offering something that's interesting and different. It's great to know people are taking us seriously and are prepared to think outside the box that is mass production.

We're looking forward to holding many more events of this nature in the future.

There'll be images available soon so watch this space!

3 Designers: One Mission

Designers Hanny Dewar, Lee Dewar (centre) and Tamara Russell have one thing in common. They are dedicated to the recycling cause. Bringing awareness to the need for more sustainable practices in the fashion industry is their mission. The Sustainable Careers Expo 2010 was held on Wednesday at the ANU and though the crowd was relatively small, the message was heard loud and clear. RE-USE, RE-INVENT and of course RE-LOVE!

Re-Loved at the ANU Sustainable Careers Expo

We were invited to participate in the Green fashion parade at the Sustainable Careers Expo held at the Australian National University (ANU to us locals) on Wednesday 18 August 2010. It was a fairly casual affair but we had lots of fun. 3 of our Re-Loved designers: Lee Dewar, Tamara Russell and yours truly, presented collections, created from reclaimed, upcycled and recycled materials, promoting the need for sustainability in the fashion industry.

Sam on the left is wearing a lovely cotton halterneck two-fer from Hanny-d Creations. Raquel on the right is wearing a lace top and ruffled skirt from CraftiLee. Hanny (centre) is wearing her own design, a cotton knit dress with front overlay.
